Marking a Milestone: New Endoscopy Equipment at Arnprior Regional Health

Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, together with Arnprior Regional Health (ARH), proudly marked an important milestone on January 20, 2026, with an official ribbon cutting celebrating the arrival of new state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment. Donors, ARH staff, and community partners gathered to recognize the impact this investment is already having on patient care.

Endoscopy is an essential diagnostic procedure that allows physicians to examine the inside of the body using a thin, flexible tube equipped with a camera and light. It is commonly used to investigate digestive concerns, abdominal pain, bleeding, and swallowing difficulties, and plays a key role in detecting conditions such as ulcers, inflammation, polyps, and cancer. At Arnprior Regional Health, more than 2100 endoscopy procedures are performed each year, underscoring the importance of having reliable and modern equipment to support patient care close to home.

A donor spotlight graphic for the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation featuring a man seated at an event. The text on the graphic reads: “Donor Spotlight – George Powell. Thank you for supporting the community, the Arnprior & District Memorial Hospital and The Grove.” The Foundation logo appears at the bottom.

For many years, George has called Sandy Beach in McNab Braeside home. But in 2020, his journey took an unexpected turn that deepened his connection to Arnprior Regional Health (ARH).

What began as a routine stress test at the Arnprior Hospital quickly led to a diagnosis that required triple bypass surgery at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute—right in the middle of the pandemic. Following his surgery, complications brought him back to the Arnprior Hospital, where he experienced firsthand the exceptional care and compassion of the ARH team.

From physicians who took extra time to explain his condition to staff who greeted him by name, George says the care he received in Arnprior far outshone what he found in the city. Grateful for that experience, he reached out to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation to give back—and has since become a dedicated supporter.

Scope for Hope: Investing in Lifesaving Endoscopy Equipment

At Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, we are committed to ensuring our community has access to the very best healthcare, close to home. That’s why we launched the Scope for Hope Campaign – to raise the funds needed to replace aging endoscopy equipment that the Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) Endoscopy Team relies on.

The need is clear. Our current scopes, towers, and software systems have served the community for many years, but they are no longer keeping pace with the level of care our patients deserve. The technology is outdated, the images are not as sharp, procedures can take longer, and the risk of breakdowns is increasing. Read More>>>
