Give the Gift of Stock

Give the Gift of Stock

Support local healthcare and save on taxes

When you donate publicly traded securities, you are doing more than making a gift. You are helping save lives.

A gift of stock or mutual funds can be one of the most cost-effective ways to support patient care at Arnprior Regional Health. By transferring your securities directly to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, you can eliminate the capital gains tax and receive a charitable tax receipt for the full market value of your donation.

Your generosity will help ensure quality health care for your loved ones and your community.

Why Give a Gift of Securities

Giving a gift of securities is one of the most tax-smart ways to give.

When you donate qualifying securities directly to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation:

  • You pay no capital gains tax

  • You receive a charitable tax receipt for the full fair market value of the gift

  • You create lasting impact for local health care

Eligible gifts may include:

  • Publicly traded stocks

  • Bonds and mutual fund units

  • Exchange-traded funds

  • Segregated funds

  • Certain employee stock options

To qualify, your gift must be made in kind, meaning the securities are transferred directly without being sold. The shares must be publicly traded on a recognized exchange.

Why Now?

Recent changes to federal tax policy will impact the benefits of giving securities. Starting in January 2024, new rules affecting the Alternative Minimum Tax could reduce the tax advantages of these types of gifts.

If you have appreciated securities and plan to make a charitable donation, giving before year end may provide greater tax savings.

We encourage you to speak with your financial or tax advisor to explore your options and make the most of your gift.

If you are considering a gift to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, we would be pleased to speak with you.
