In Memory of Reverend Leo Hughes

Remembering Reverend Leo Hughes (2)

The Arnprior Regional Health Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of Reverend Leo Hughes, a devoted supporter, community leader, and friend.

Reverend Hughes’ commitment to care close to home was both steadfast and deeply personal. In 2024, many in our community came to know his story through our holiday appeal, where he shared the profound impact of healthcare access during his late wife Margaret’s illness. After her passing, Reverend Hughes chose to honour her memory in a remarkable way by selling his cherished Coca-Cola memorabilia collection and directing the proceeds toward local healthcare.

His generosity and giving example helped raise significant funds for the CT Scan Campaign, ensuring that families in our region would not have to endure long waits and travel far from home during critical moments.

Reverend Hughes was more than a donor. He was a consistent and caring presence at Foundation events, always showing his support for initiatives that strengthened healthcare in our community. Most recently, we were honoured to have him join us in celebrating the arrival of new endoscopy equipment at Arnprior Regional Health, where he marked the milestone by cutting the ribbon, an enduring symbol of his belief in progress and community care.

Through his leadership, generosity, and compassion, Reverend Hughes leaves behind a legacy that will continue to impact patients and families for years to come.

“As we reflect on Reverend Hughes’ life and legacy, we are reminded that his compassion and generosity have left a lasting mark on our community. His impact will continue through the care made possible because of his support as a friend of the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, and he will be deeply missed.”
Ben Gardiner, Executive Director, Arnprior Regional Health Foundation

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hughes family and all who knew and loved him. We are grateful for the role he played in shaping a healthier future for our community.
